As part of my college program, I am required to take a keyboarding class. I have taken keyboarding classes before and as I’m typing this, I think it’s important to note that I’m using home row and have only had two small corrections. That being said, as soon as anyone begins giving me these nonsensical typing phrases like “a dads jass la daff ad”, I begin misspelling every other word.
It’s so frustrating to know that I’m better than this, but no one will ever believe it because this foolish nonsense keeps messing me up. I keep having to think about how to spell words that don’t really exist, my fingers don’t automatically create these words and that’s so frustrating. This program of teaching people to type is postively idiotic. I type at 70 wpm per minute on a good day, but here I feel like a kindergartener hunting and pecking at the keys!
Personal reflection is difficult lately. My thoughts refuse to be gathered and untangled, so I can’t tell you the way I want to how very frightened I am now that I’m standing at the beginning of a long road that will be the rest of my life.
Once, I heard a joking kind of story in a commentary for a television show. In the scene, there was a hat that everyone had apparently thought was silly, so they decided to carry on with their lines, but while pretending they were all secretly speaking about the hat.
Sometimes, I play silly games like that when I’m writing. The story could have big themes like how literature defines us as people or what it means to sacrifice oneself for a cause, but that doesn’t always matter. Sometimes, when I write those stories, I think, This scene is only about Mildred’s socks or I’m going to put a spaceship in this.
It really is one of the best games to play.
